Things are slowly starting to come together. I ordered a few waterproof pouches for items such as maps, to put our cell phones in if we get caught in a down pour, and for our first aid kit. The waterproof pouches I had been using are made by aLOKSAK, but the closure systems had long ago failed, rendering them pretty useless as waterproof pouches.
Since the new Coughlan pouches came in, I get to go through all our first aid kit, lay it out and weigh it up.

After sorting everything I divided them into two groups. Products that needed water protection and those that didn’t. What I ended up with was all of the bottled products in one bag and the rest in the other. Olivia and I may divide this up to distribute weight and space on the bikes since the bottles of Advil and Tylenol add some bulk unfortunately.
It adds up to over half a kilo of weight, which when you’re trying to shave every gram you can, is a lot. First aid is something I don’t want to skimp on, so we will go with this for now and perhaps get rid of some things along the way.
