Tools of the Trade

Today was the day to go through tools and spares.  Tools and spares are heavy, but necessary.  I have four sets of spare brake pads for each bike, which I hope is way overkill, but I freaked out after the BC trip this past summer when Olivia went through a set of new-ish pads in 10 days in the mountains.

I have a tool roll that I use for most of my tools and spares.  I also have a Surly pouch that I am using to keep the less used spares such as bolts, pads and some patch kits for the sleeping mats and out stove repair kit.

  • Patch Kit (we run tubeless but if that fails we may need to put a tube in)
  • Tubeless Puncture Kit
  • Tire Boot
  • Tire Levers
  • 10 & 11 Spd Quick Links
  • Master Link Combo Pliers
  • Lubricant
  • Valve Stems
  • Vale Core Removal Tool
  • Cleaning Brush
  • Few extra links of chain
  • Spare Brake pads
  • Rag
  • Chainbreaker
  • Tire sealant
  • Brake Cable
  • Latex Gloves
  • Gorilla Tape
  • Zip Ties
  • Bolts
  • Pocket Screwdriver
  • Pliers
  • Allen Keys
  • Torx Keys
  • Axle Key
  • Tubes
  • Spokes
  • Pump

You can find a breakdown with some links and more specific weights on LighterPack.
